Suspended Royal Mail Service - Ireland & Italy - UPDATED 11/04/22

Suspended Royal Mail Service - 16/12/21

UPDATE 11/04/22 -

We have recently received the following update from Royal Mail regarding shipping to Italy -

"We have been advised by Poste Italiane that the backlog of items held in Italian customs has been cleared and that delays are no longer being experienced in the processing of postal items. To ensure that your items can continue to be processed without delays, please provide full and accurate data before posting your items."

Following this advise we are pleased to offer Royal Mail's services to Italy once again 😊!

-------------------

Sadly, we've recently received information from Royal Mail regarding customs issues sending to both Ireland and Italy.

We have made the difficult decision to suspend our Royal Mail services to both of these countries and for the time being can only offer DHL as a shipping method.

We have included below the information we've received from Royal Mail regarding these issues.

Ireland

"Start date: 16th September 2021
Latest Update: 19th November 2021
End date: Ongoing
Incident: Customs delays

Latest Update
We’re sorry for the disruption some customers are experiencing with some services to Ireland at the moment. This disruption is being caused by the implementation of new import controls which are resulting in the return of some items by the Irish Customs authorities. Royal Mail remains in discussions with our postal partner, AnPost with a view to help identify new processes that could improve the flow of mail items into Ireland and reduce the return of items.

IOSS HS Code Restrictions
The Irish Custom authority have notified us that they have relaxed their import controls on certain goods and HS codes. Customers sending items to Ireland via IOSS are advised to check the latest restricted HS Tariff codes implemented by Irish Customs."

If your parcel is being returned to us, we will contact you upon arrival to discuss what we can do next.

Italy

"Start date: 5 January 2021
Latest update: 16th December 2021
End date: Ongoing
Incident: Customs delays

Latest Update
We have been advised by Poste Italiane that severe delays are being experienced in processing postal items due to serious IT problems in Italian customs. This is affecting all postal shipments from outside the EU. Although we are continuing to ship items to Italy at the moment, due to these technical issues being experienced once they arrive they currently face delays of at least several weeks before being processed by customs and delivered by Poste Italiane. We are in constant dialogue with Poste Italiane but they have so far been unable to give us a date when these issues will be resolved. Therefore please consider the current situation carefully if you are posting items to Italy as they will face severe delays once they arrive in the country. We will provide further updates as soon as we have them."

For the time being we will continue to abide by our "Lost in Transit" information for orders being sent to Italy meaning if you have not received your parcel within 25 working days of its shipment date, please contact us and we can discuss how best we can help.

We intend to do all we can to assist our customers facing these problems however, as both of these issues are ongoing we are reliant on Royal Mail for further updates.

Should we receive further information regarding these issues we will update this post to reflect any changes.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards,
Chefs

yes they have several problems… but its not a RM issue but italian Poste service is weak! you made a good choice and go with DHL that have top service even if they are not cheap. 👏
