The shores of Ceylon, now Sri Lanka, have been the source of the finest Cinnamon for centuries. It was said by a Captain of a Dutch sailing ship that, downwind, one could smell the Cinnamon when over 25 miles out to sea! The 'red sticks' give a powerful flavour and a 'bite' to this liquid.
